Sharing our food is sharing our culture - when you eat good food, it makes you smile and your face lights up. It really makes us happy to see people enjoying our food.

Spice Club is brought to you by Indian Curry Pot, a family business born out of lockdown to husband and wife foodies, Sree and Arya, both academics at the University of Lincoln. The couple began cooking their own favourite family dishes for their local community in Market Rasen just after the first lockdown in 2020.

Before Covid-19 they would regularly spend a whole day cooking for friends, as they enjoy cooking together and experimenting with new flavours. The turning point came when people suggested that they sell their food, which sparked an idea that became a business.

Arya said: “We thought, if we like our food and other people do, how can we share it more widely? We wanted to give back to the community too, so we decided to provide authentic Indian food cooked in our very own kitchen.”

Originally from Kerala in southwest India, the couple uses their own families’ recipes and cooking techniques, simply adjusting the level of chilli in the dishes to suit the British palate.

With Indian Curry Pot Spice Club, they have returned to their roots and created Spice Mixes that pack in all the full authentic layered flavours of Kerala, the Land of Spices.

Spice Club came about when takeaway customers started asking more about the spices, amazed at the extraordinary depth of flavour in their recipes. Demand grew from further afield, and it became impossible to meet them from their small domestic kitchen. Creating the perfect spice blends to cook delicious curries at home was the obvious next step.

Arya said: “Our philosophy with Indian Curry Pot was that we’d never serve any food that we wouldn’t eat ourselves, so we always make an extra couple of portions each week so we can eat the same.

Now with Spice Club we can help people who don’t live locally to cook along with us and enjoy the same healthy, delicious authentic food from their own homes.
